·The Anti-Terrorism
Department has issued a threat alert regarding the assassination of former
Prime Minister Imran Khan. The English daily The News, citing sources, reported
that the threat alert issued by CTD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stated that terrorists
had planned to assassinate former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Therefore, the services
of an assassin of Afghanistan, who could possibly carry out an attack, have
been directed to all the concerned agencies to take all possible measures for
the security of the former Prime Minister in the light of the threat alert.
·A senior
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officer has confirmed that the CTD had issued a
threat alert on June 18 that an Afghan assassin had been given the
responsibility to target Imran Khan, the report said. The killer later handed
over the responsibility to others.
·It may be
recalled that on June 18, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former
provincial minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan had claimed that Imran Khan had
been ordered to be assassinated, he tweeted on social networking site
Kochi-based terrorist in Afghanistan has been ordered to assassinate PTI
chairman Imran Khan. Security was requested.
·Earlier, a report released
on June 6, 2022 stated that security was on high alert around Bani Gala in view
of the threats to the life of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Security has been heightened
around Bani Gala while special security forces have been deployed near Bani
Gala residence. Strict checking of vehicles is being carried out on entry and
exit routes of Bani Gala. Security will be provided.
